10 Home Remedies for Acne

Acne - a skin condition nobody really wants but almost everyone gets at one point in their lives. How to say sayonara forever? Unfortunately, this is the challenge.

At present, there remains no surefire way to get rid of acne. While there are many remedies in the market that claim to zap your zit problems away in a heartbeat, their effects differ from person to person. If you have mild acne, over the counter remedies could work well with you. But if you have a severe face issue, you might want to consult a dermatologist directly. Either way, you will have to spend on medication.

If your acne is not as bad and you feel that you can muster home remedy trial and error, here are some of the acne remedies most people swear by: (But, hey, always keep in mind that different strokes respond to different folks, so these are definitely NOT carved in stone.)

1) Squeeze the juice out of a lemon and mix it with the same amount of rose water. Dab the mixture onto your face and let it sit there for at least 30 minutes, after which you'll need to wash your face with fresh water. Do this for 15 consecutive days and you'll see that your pimples and acne have noticeably reduced and the scars have started to fade.

2) Use Nettle Tea. Nettle tea contains some curing element that works its magic on basic skin problems. Four cups a day should do the trick.

3) For those annoying acne lesions, try applying aloe vera extract to you face twice a day.

4) Toothpaste can also be a great instant acne remedy. Dab a little on your zit before going to bed and your pimple should be noticeably smaller when you wake up. Just make sure you use the paste, and not the gel, formula.

5) One of the more popular acne home remedies is fresh mint juice. Apply it all over your face and let it stay there overnight.

6) Here's a smelly acne home remedy: crushed garlic cloves. Dab them on your face once or twice a day.

7) Honey with cinnamon power. Mix up a paste using one teaspon of cinnamon power and 3 tablespoons of honey. Put it on your face before you go to bed and rinse it off as soon as you wake up using warm water. Two weeks of doing this will help make your pimples go away for a considerable period (or, if you're lucky, forever!).

8) Wash your face clean with water and then dab your pimples with cotton balls that have been previously soaked in vinegar.

9) To thoroughly cleanse your face and pores, use either an almond or oatmeal mask. Mis either with rose water, enough to turn it into a paste and spread on your skin, paying special attention to your problem areas. Let them stay and dry for around 15 minutes and then rinse them off with cold water. This will help you get rid of those annoying blackheads and whiteheads.

10) Mash tomatoes to a pulp and apply them on your pimples and acne. Leave them on for about one hour and then wash them off.

There are many more acne home remedies around, and if you're creative and resourceful, you might even be able to conjure one up yourself. When working with home acne remedies, though, always keep in mind that it's still always best to consult a professional about your skin problems. Because when all else fails, you'll definitely be forced to see a dermatologist (and you might end up paying more).

But, hey, if it works for you, then, by all means, keep doing it.
